Monday I lost my English Bulldog Kula. He was six and a half years old and on of the best dogs I've ever had. He helped me get through some of the worst times in my life, at night when I would lie in bed and cry he would snuggle me up and lick away my tears. At times when I didn't think I could ever smile again the would give a bully snort, sling his drool, and roll onto his back wiggling all over the place, and in true bulldog fashion he tooted...I had no choice but to smile.
kula was my baby boy, so when he started to change a few months ago I began to get worried. He started being mean to Max (our Blood Hound) and more recently mean to Bodie, my ten year old mutt who was like a mother to him as a puppy. It became so bad that we had to let him go, it was the last resort, we tried everything. Our vet raises English Bulldogs and is extremely familiar with the breed, I knew I could trust him to help me with the decision that was best and with the hardest also. His last days were during Christmas, needless to say it was a sad time. Kula has always loved this time of year, so we made it the best Christmas ever. Santa brought him the biggest beef bone ever and Sunday night he had a New York strip all to his self, which he ate off of a fine china plate.
The story of Kula boils down to love at first sight. I was living in Virginia and I wandered into a pet store, I stooped down to the glass where it said English Bulldog. This tiny smooched face butterball waddled over to the glass where I had placed my had, he put his paw up , my heart melted. When he was placed in my arms for the first time I never wanted to let go of him. He reached up, licked my face, at that moment I knew I belonged to him also.
Now God has a new doggie angle in heaven, where he h been reunited with the pets we have lost in the past. Kula has gone over the Rainbow Bridge, where he will wait until it is time for me to join him in heaven.

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
