Well, I made it to my 28th year

Today is my 28th birthday, and honestly I'm feeling quite indifferent. Last year a month before my birthday my granmother passed away, then this year my sweet dog Daisy Mae passed away also. So that's two birthdays in a row that something unbearably sad happened, I can't help but wonder what next year will bring. I know that's no way to think, but it keeps popping into my head.

Remember when you were little and you looked forward to your birthday! I would start planning what them I was going to have six months in advance, my top 5 favorite themes; 1) 7yro-New Kids On The Block, 2) 9yro-90210, 3) 5yro-SheRah, 4) 3yro-CareBears, 5) 8yro-Party at Burger King...Those were so much fun!

So I'm going to put a smile on my face, and make the best out of today!!

Good Bye Daisy Mae

On Saturday my mom and I had to make one of the hardest decisions we've ever had to make.
The Thursday before, I had taken Daisy Mae to the vet, because she hadn't eaten in about 3 days and had been vomiting. They kept her over night, giving her antibiotics & put in an IV to flush her system. Friday when we went to check on her and go over her blood work, the prognosis wasn't looking very good. She was still very jaundiced and still hadn't eaten anything, so they kept her over night again, in hopes that there would be a little bit of improvement. Mom and I were preparing for the worst, but hoping for the best.
Saturday morning was very somber, we didn't have a lot to say to each other. When we went in to the exam room to talk to the vet mom and I were braced for what was about to come. There had been no improvement, at this point she hadn't eaten in almost a week, and she wasn't going to get better, her live had shut down. Mom & I knew that Daisy Mae was suffering, it would be selfish of us to keep her in that condition.
We spent a while with her, we sat on the floor and she laid between us. I told her how much she meant to me, that she was the sweetest dog anyone could ever ask for, and that this was not her fault! Daisy Mae gave me kisses & a hug, while I rubbed her chest, she had lost so much weight in such a short amount of time. It seemed like she was reassuring me and mom, that we were doing the right thing, that she was ready and it was going to be okay. Through a waterfall of tears we said our final good bye, and as I write this at this moment my keyboard is being flooded with tears. I know it was the unselfish & right thing to do, she will be waiting at the Rainbow Bridge with Polly, Trixie, & Duke, our beloved dogs from years past. Daisy Mae was an angle in doggie clothes, and I am so grateful for the time I've had with her! I miss her more than words can describe, our other three dogs; Bodie, Kula, & Max; miss her too, I can see the sadness in there eyes. Daisy Mae wouldn't want us to be sad, but to look back on our time together and SMILE!!!

The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Let's Meet the Dog Pack!!

Since I tend to talk about my dogs a lot, I thought I'd introduce them to y'all!!

I'll start with Bodie, she will be 10 in September. I found her November of 2000 at a local restaurant that I was working at, in the parking lot. I saw a customer "shooing" her out of the road, so I went out to see what was goin' on. I saw this little black puppy that was scared and hungry, so I picked her up went back in fixed her some water and told my boss I had to leave! The next day I took her to the vet, he said she was no more than 5 weeks old and a pure bred mutt, so we gave her her shots, a flea & tick bath and I brought her home! I was just 18 and my best friend had been killed in a car accident that August, I found Bodie exactly 4 months after Lindsay passed. My mom said that there was no way she was going to make me give her up. Bodie has always been a very nurturing dog, she has OCD & is a bit neurotic, but she is the sweetest girl ever!

Daisy Mae is an 8yro Black Lab, who is also a rescue. Summer of 2002 (I think) Bodie kept bring home a pretty lab from down the street, we soon found out that she had been abandoned and was left with no food or water on a 4ft chain with no shelter. My mom is as much of an animal over as I am, so we decided to keep her! She was infested with fleas and ticks, and in much need of some TLC. We took her to the vet, and got her all fixed up! We say that she is Bodies dog since she's the one who found her! Daisy is a great big teddy bear, we couldn't have asked for a better baby!

Kula is my baby even though he is 6 years old! I got him when I was living in Virgina Beach, and he is the one good thing that came from my marriage (and divorce!). I was at the mall and went into a pet store, they had lots of puppies, I had no intention of getting one. That's when I saw him...a tiny 8wk(ish) old English Bulldog, with fawn & white fur and it looked like a little whith paint drop on top of his head! I knelt down to look in his cubical, put my hand on the glass and he put his paw up too. (Now I know you should never buy a pup at a pet store, but I look at it like I rescued him from that place!) That was all she wrote, and he has had me wrapped around his paw ever since! He loves the beach and taking dips in the ocean too, he also love children, and is a huge attention hog! People always say how handsome he is, he loots at the like "I know I am!!"

Now last but not least Max, he is a 2yro Bloodhound/Lab mix. A teacher at moms school had a AKC Bloodhound that she was getting ready to breed, but a couple days after she went in heat and was going to meet her stud the neighbors black Lab took advantage! She had 8 puppies, when mom saw the picture of Max, she said she had to have him! He is a redish tan and looks just like his bloodhound mother. He looks just like a Bloodhound but with shorter ears! He is a sweet pea, and a bit mischievous, the "knowledge" knot on his head seems to raise when he's up to something. Max was a great pup and never chewed anything, what he did & still does do is collects things. He will take stuff like toilet paper rolls; undergarments; pens; sheets; shoes; and anything else he can find, and hide them under my bed completly unharmed. He also loves fruit and veggies more than anything else!

Well there ya have it, that's our dog pack, they are an eclectic bunch, and they add so much love to our lives! Not to mention how entertaining they are!!

Hello My Name is....

...Meg, I'm ten days from my 28th birthday, I grew up, and still live in a small beach town in southeastern North Carolina. Growing up I couldn't wait to leave my hometown, and I did leave for a while, then I came back. As much as I enjoyed a "bigger city" (30min north of my old stompin' ground) after a not so great marriage and a much welcomed divorce, I came home. I moved back in with my mom, who had recently taken on the care of her mother. Yes, there's 3 generations in this house, and as a good ole Girl Raised In The South, I've taken on the job of takin' care of granma. It's by no means my ideal situation but ya can't say no to family, right?

Between me and mom we have 4 dogs....I know that's a lot but I had 2 before moving back, so we just extended our  lil family. I'll go ahead and give ya'll a snipit of who they are, Bodie a 10yro mutt, Kula a 6yro Bulldog, Daisy Mae 8yro Black Lab, and the newest addition Max a 2yro Bloodhound Lab mix. I talk about them a lot so you've been warned!

With all that being said, I have a lot of opinions about everything & love giving advice. I may not always have the popular opinion, but that's just me and I'm not tiring to offend anyone! There may be times I bitch & complain about family or friends, when I do I may "protect" my post, just ask and I'll open it up to ya, unless I actually know you in 'real' life. This is more for my self preservation than anything else!!

Hope y'all enjoy my little blog xoxo
